6 Easy ways to improve your home’s curb appeal

Home’s curb appeal
Making a great first impression is a must when you’re selling a home, but you’re not the only one who has to impress. Your property should, too. A good-looking home for sale will make interested home buyers come knocking on your door.

Give your home an edge against the competition. Here are six easy and simple ways to improve your home’s curb appeal.

  1. Update the house numbers
  2. Prominently displayed, your home’s number is one of its key identifiers. A number plate that’s faded, chipped, or rusted won’t be able to represent just how great your home is.

All you need is a quick trip to the hardware store or home depot to get a new plate. Choose a style that complements your home’s architecture and design but still distinct enough to catch people’s attention.

  3. Repaint the front door
  4. Giving the front door a fresh coat of paint can make uplift the overall look of the home. It’s one of the first things buyers see when they look at your property, so make sure it looks clean and inviting.

Choose a shade that matches the color scheme of the house’s exterior and complements the interior of your home. If you want to go the extra mile, you can change your front door altogether. Add a brand-new doormat and new hardware to complete the whole look.

  5. Touch up the exterior
  6. You don’t have to repaint the whole house to improve its curb appeal. Simply retouching and repairing unsightly spots and areas will already do wonders.

You should also clean the gutters, clean the windows, upgrade the mailbox (especially if it’s in poor condition), and perform other maintenance tasks. Doing so will help you prepare your home for sale.

  7. Spruce up the lawn and driveway
  8. Clean the front lawn and driveway. Throw away any clutter. Simple things like clearing out weeds from the lawn and repairing cracks in the driveway will give your home an improved look.

Use a pressure washer on the driveway to remove years of accumulated dirt and grime. Add a touch of greenery to your property by putting up some planters and window boxes with fresh flowers. If the driveway is framed by a mature tree, trim it carefully to keep it healthy and aesthetically pleasing.

  9. Install outdoor lighting
  10. Consider how your home looks during the afternoon and evenings. Having a poorly lit home makes it look uninviting, poorly maintained, and sometimes even scary.

Install porch lights or pendant lights to highlight your home’s entryway. You should also install lights along the walkway or driveway to make the house look more welcoming and easier to access. Having a well-lit exterior also adds a layer of security to the home, deterring miscreants from doing any misdeeds.

  11. Clean the roof
  12. Most sellers overlook the roof but it’s one of the most important aspects of your home. Sprucing it up will make a big difference on the look of the property. Give it some TLC by giving it a proper clean. If the roof, however, is in bad shape, it would be best to replace it.
